Coot and Tyler
Friday, May 1st, 2009I am Coot’s dad (Michael Keith Godwin, Jr.)….just want to update everyone on what has happened.
Adam Biddle was sentenced Thursday (4-23-2009) to 3 years in prison for causing the wreck that took the lives of our children.
He was initially charged with 4 total counts:
2 – counts of 1st degree Felony Vehicular Homicide; 1 – count of Wreckless Driving; 1 – count of Driving on the wrong side of the road
The judge changed the charges from 1st degree to 2nd degree Vehicular Homicide, which made the charges become misdemeanors. Also, the Wreckless Driving charge got merged into the misdemeanor charges.
The maximum he could have gotten is 1 year for each of the remaining 3 counts he was found guilty of, which is what the judge gave him.
The DA is appealing the judges decision to reduce the charges and if it gets reversed, he could get up to 10 years on the Felony charges.
I have included the last picture of Coot and Tyler with Coot’s fiance (Stacy) at her graduation, taken 6 days before the wreck.
